Fair Rules
A student may participate in only one project
Projects can be individual projects or team projects
2-3 members max
Can only form groups within the same school
Use the scientific method for your project
Division 1 (7th - 8th) and Division 2 (5th - 6th)
A first, second, and third place winner will be picked from each category
Prizes will be awarded to winners, and all participants will receive certificates of merit!
Types of Projects
Science Project: Investigates the effects of changes or answers the question “Why?”
Engineering Project: Solves a need or problem; includes measures of success.
Product Testing Project: Tests and compares similar items using quantitative endpoints.
Submission Guide
Must submit a complete abstract.
An abstract must be a fully self-contained, capsule description of the project.
Parts of an abstract include:
Purpose
Methods/Materials
Procedure
Results/Analysis
Conclusion
It must make sense all by itself.
It should be 250 words or less.
It should use complete sentences in prose format. Treat the abstract as a “how I would tell a friend about my work, from start to finish” letter.
Must submit informal presentation.
Must be in powerpoint format
Use readable background colors and text
Use a bullet point format
Use images, graphs, and tables for interpreting data

Encouraged to submit video demonstration of project.
Must be no more than 2 minutes and 30 seconds
Video and audio quality should be clear
All project materials must be submitted to your judging folder by May 28th.
